Well, the launch has concluded. It wasn't a home run. It wasn't a strikeout. It may have been a single or a double, which is decent. There was definitely different energy about this book versus others. I got some responses from CEOs and directors of content and stuff like that. Other staff that I interacted with or came across seemed genuinely interested. It felt like it made an impression. People kind of stopped and took notice for once, which is new.
First of all, I did technically get the first article about me and my work ever published. It was a small piece in Voice Honolulu Community News, a publication of MidWeek, an edition of the Star-Advertiser. The new book was also included in the Halloween issue of The Terror Teletype newsletter from Fangoria Magazine, which is a legendary and iconic horror magazine. As a big horror fan, that is personally an honor. And the biggest news is copies of SMILING FACELESS WOMAN officially crossed the barrier into physical bookstores...
I am proud to announce Barnes & Noble ordered copies and asked to come in and sign them, pose for a pic on social media and the whole shebang. The two posts and stories were a big hit, and I gained some new followers. It was up front and center with a 2-ft poster board, then at an end shelf next to Stephen King, Joe Hill, Mary Shelley, Stephen Graham Jones, Anne Rice and Shirley Jackson, and of course over on the G shelf. The first few times I waltzed in and checked, no copies sold. The last time I stopped by and checked, wow, copies sold.
There is actually tons more news and way more to share, but I will cut it there. Because all of these are very noteworthy achievements. I am ecstatic to see, hear and feel such momentum building. A long runway for growth and potential and transformation awaits, so I will be ready.
