I have a lot lined up in a short amount of time. Kind of playing all of this close to the chest for the new launch. Did a conference call with my writing partner. Did a business lunch with a focus on marketing. Got two photo shoots pending. Little by little, all of the pieces are falling together. The proofreading is done. Cover design is almost done--this is probably the best cover I've had. Interior formatting is being worked on now. One big key difference in my approach is I'll be reaching out to media outlets and trying for live events as well. I tried this before but during the pandemic, so unsuccessfully.
The hard part recently is it's not just preparing for the new book. I still have more and more writing to do, of course. There is a spin-off idea I'm about halfway through. I also started research for the next novel. I went stargazing and talked to astronomers, and did an extensive interview with a MUFON investigator. All the while, I am still promoting older works too. So, I've gotten better at juggling multiple tasks at multiple stages.
Last but definitely not least, I think this is the final trick up my sleeve. I'm committed to writing. I have stories in me that have to get out, that I want to put down onto paper. But I can admit I'm running out of steam. I don't plan to query agents or publishers anymore, and will not do a big launch again. After this, I should know what works and what doesn't, so I'll just keep recreating that until I have a hit on my hands. All I need is one.
