Hardly Working

It has been a very busy last few months for me. There's a lot happening with family, with the day job. All the while, I released my second book (a collection of stories) and am hard at work on a new manuscript, a horror novel. I came into it really striving to create a new masterpiece, a new magnum opus for myself, do something I've never done before, in a last ditch effort to break into the industry, one way or another.
To prepare for this project, I did extensive research including interviewing a paranormal investigator and a preacher. I went on a couple of ghost tours, met and talked to local experts, even visited a few haunted locations by myself late at night with a flashlight... I do not recommend this.
This time, I chose not to allow some of my quirks into the prose, like certain words or certain styles, which has created a pretty smooth and clean story. I am planning to try for literary agents once more. It will be the last time. By then, this would be my fifth book so it doesn't make sense to keep querying when we have a growing back list. I would be better off focusing on sales and marketing then, which is another area I'm preparing to expand. I have a few major advertising and promotional campaigns in progress, taking this pretty seriously.
In a nut shell, I am going hard in a two-pronged approach. On the one hand, I'm gonna try to snag an agent and land a book deal. On the other hand, now that I have two books, I am going to put some extra effort into finally becoming profitable. I know I can do it. I'm good enough. And I've worked hard enough for long enough.
