It's been way too long, but I am just really busy with so many things right now. This is a continuation of my other blog of movies, shows and anime. As the state of the world improves, there's still not much to do other than Netflix, Hulu and Disney Plus (and now also HBO Max and Amazon Prime) so here is yet another extensive list of what I've been devouring in what little spare time I do have...

Enola Holmes

I actually had been waiting to watch this for a while. Millie Bobby Brown is definitely a talent to keep an eye on. This was a lot of good girl power fun, and having both Henry Cavill as well as Helena Bonham Carter was amazing. Can't wait for the sequel.

Gemini Man

This probably would've been a great date night movie. Some popcorn, drinks. Big screen and big sound. It was surprisingly pretty good. Action sequences were cool, characters good. Will Smith, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Benedict Wong all deliver.

Arrow, Seasons 1-3

Me and my wife got into this. I actually saw the first two seasons back when it was popular and thought I could get further this time, but no. Those first two seasons are great, along the lines of Nolan's Batman trilogy. But then it just becomes so CW, sorry.

Abominable

I was hooked from the first trailer, and would've saw this in theaters. It was a good time, lots of fun and lots of heart. Little bit of Asian representation, little bit of magical fantasy.

Soul

This was good. I really like this kind of more cerebral Pixar movie, been a couple now. It's an existential concept anybody and everybody can relate to. Loved the jazz elements.

Marriage Story

I mean, we all know that one scene was trending for a good while. So it's been on my radar, but only got around to watching it recently. Really good analysis of men and of women and the difficulties of marriage, especially when it goes legal. Sad.

The Way Back

Sports movies are always good. And I'm a Ben Affleck fan. This one was especially interesting because it gets pretty dark, and had an unusual twist.

Chernobyl

My brother nagged me to watch this so I finally did, and it was really good. What great tone and great pacing, and I was always curious what actually happened.

Bombshell

You had me at Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie. Charlize gave an incredible performance. I didn't even recognize her for like the first half hour. I'm not really political, but this was worth checking out.

The Trial of the Chicago 7

I really liked this. It's always cool to have a period piece that goes back in time, especially to something of a revolution with fascinating people who were very passionate and took real action. Highly recommend.

Ford v Ferrari

A movie like this sucks you in right away, and gets better and better with every scene. The actors were all amazing, and the characters leave a lasting impression.

Us

This has some real interesting stuff in it, was weird and creepy. Overall, just okay.

Child's Play

I was a fan of the original. As a kid, I remember being haunted by the scene where the doll is shot up, burnt and dismembered, and yet still coming. This was also just okay.

The Grudge

So many Japanese horror movies are iconic by now. So I was excited to see a reboot of one of the movies that traumatized me. But this was atrociously bad, and a major smack in the face to all of the fandom. Horrible.

Annabelle Comes Home

I really like the universe that James Wan has created. He is a true master storyteller, and now one of my favorite directors. I pretty much watch any installment in these franchises. If you think this is scary, look into the true stories that inspired them.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

There is an upcoming movie that will feature both Godzilla and King Kong, literal and metaphorical giants, so I had to see this. First one was pretty good and I'm excited to watch the mash-up.

Terminator Dark Fate

I'm a big fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger. It's always good to see him reprise the character. I will say this, though, probably about time to wrap up this series.

Sonic the Hedgehog

I'm also a big fan of Jim Carrey. Always good to see him try different roles. This was surprisingly a lot of fun, and I do hope they make another one.

Wonder Woman 1984

This was a little disappointing, to be honest. It was okay, but just a little convoluted. I liked seeing the original love interest return but didn't care for the villain or ending.

Yu Yu Hakusho

A little on the older end, and it was slow at first. But this got pretty epic, and I'm glad I stuck it out. Sometimes there's a reason something's a classic. I like that the writer worked towards an ending versus try to go on and on.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

This has come up in conversation a lot, so I was curious. I really loved the premise and was hooked in almost immediately. The animation's really good. Probably the best anime out there currently. Just wish there was more to watch.

Well, that's about it. There's a couple more I didn't include. Like I said, I've been finding myself so busy recently that my watch time has really decreased. Almost like I have to be super selective with what I invest in now, which is tricky. I hope you enjoyed this little blog series, and I'll be back soon with more of the usual updates of what I been working on.
